I’ve been seeing smash burgers all over TikTok, and I knew I had to make one!
I didn’t want to just make it. I wanted to make it light but still delicious.

When I checked the WW app, it said a Smashburger classic burger is 22 points.
My version is only 6 points!
How I lightened it up:
I used lean ground beef. Each burger was 3 ounces of uncooked beef – 6 ounces total.
As always, I used a food scale to weigh the beef.

A food scale is the best way to make sure your portions/points are accurate.
Instead of using a hamburger bun, I used a low point tortilla.
Since the burgers will shrink quite a bit while cooking, I only used one tortilla for two burgers.
I used a Mission Carb Balance tortilla, which was 2 points.
Of course, I couldn’t forget the cheese. I love American cheese on a burger, so I used reduced-fat American cheese.
It’s only 2 points per slice. I don’t like to use fat-free cheese because I can never get it to melt good.

How to make Smash Burger Quesadillas:
The first thing I did was weighed the hamburger meat on the food scale. I did two hamburger patties that were 3 ounces (uncooked) each.
Roll the meat into a ball. One at a time, I set it between two sheets of parchment paper, then used a frying pan to flatten it out.
I seasoned each burger with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
Since I like my burgers medium to medium-well, I cooked them in a frying pan over medium heat for 3 minutes per side.
While the burgers were cooking I started getting the tortilla ready.
Fold the tortilla in half, spray a pan with cooking spray, and heat the tortilla until it is golden on each side.
I put the cheese on the burgers during the last minute of cooking so it could melt.
Cut the tortilla in half, then add one burger to each side.
You can top it with any of your favorite burger toppings just be sure to double check the points.
