I love the sausage burritos from McDonald’s! When I looked them up on the WW app it said it was 9 points.
I knew I could lighten it up!
My version is only 5 points with my WW Personal Points.

I did a lot of research to make sure these burritos are similar to the McDonald’s version.
NEW! 50 WW Friendly Dessert Recipes
The first thing I did was went to the McDonald’s website to check out the ingredients.
I quickly found out that they use tomato, onion and green chile peppers in the egg mixture.
Next I wanted to find out if they used real eggs or something else. The sausage burrito eggs always seemed really fluffy, so I wasn’t sure they were real eggs.
The McDonald’s website says the sausage burrito is made with liquid eggs. In fact their scrambled eggs and folded eggs for sandwiches are all made with liquid eggs.
It’s only the round egg (like for egg mcmuffins) that actually use a round egg.
Liquid eggs worked for me because they are still 0 points and they’re cholesterol free.
McDonald’s uses pork sausage in their burrito. For this copycat recipe I didn’t want to use turkey sausage since I was trying to make it the same.
I bought Bob Evan’s pork sausage links. For one burrito I used one sausage link.
Once the sausage link was done cooking I cut it in half lengthwise, then cut it into small pieces.
Doing that made it seem like there was still a lot of sausage.
One sausage link was only 2 points.
Instead of using regular American cheese I used 2% American cheese and only used a half piece.
Now for the tortilla. With most of my recipes I use Ole Xtreme high fiber tortillas, but this time I used something else.
The Mission carb balance tortillas are 2 points each, but they taste more like the McDonald’s tortilla.

How to make Copycat McDonald’s Breakfast Burritos:
To start I had to cook my sausage link. I cooked it in a frying pan according to the directions on the package.
While the sausage was cooking I got the vegetables ready. I chopped the onion and tomato and mixed it with the chopped green chiles.
You want equal parts of each. Whatever you don’t use now you can keep it in an airtight container in the fridge until you’re ready for it.
Once the sausage was done cooking I cut it into small pieces.
Spray a nonstick frying pan with olive oil spray then add 1-2 tablespoons of the vegetables. Let them cook for 1 minute.
Add 1/2 cup of egg beaters. I seasoned it with salt, pepper and a pinch of garlic powder.
Use a rubber spatula to keep the eggs moving while they cook. This will help to keep them fluffy.
Place a flour tortilla in the microwave for 10 seconds.
Add the half slice of American cheese to the center, then the egg mixture and sausage. Fold up the burrito and enjoy!
The recipe is only for 1 burrito but it can easily be doubled or tripled.
