Cranberries are often thought of as a superfood because of their high nutrient and antioxidant content.
Research shows that cranberries can help lower the risk of urinary tract infections, improve immune functions, help prevent certain types of cancer, and decrease blood pressure.
That’s pretty impressive!
Jam is perfect for fruit lovers because it is made with mashed fruit vs. jelly which is made with strained fruit juice. Jelly doesn’t have chunks of fruit in it.
How to make Cranberry Jam:
Rinse the cranberries with water then add them to a saucepan.
Add 2 tablespoons each of fresh squeezed orange juice, sugar free maple syrup and water.
Cook over medium heat. Once it starts to simmer turn the heat to medium-low.
Let the cranberries cook for 15 minutes.
Turn the heat off then use a potato masher to break down the cranberries.
Let the jam cool completely then add to an airtight container and keep it in the fridge.
Cranberry Jam tastes great with oatmeal or on toast, bagels or muffins.
If you like cranberry sauce you will love this jam!
