Who doesn’t love a good party dessert? Especially one that’s easy to make and transport?
Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs are the perfect dessert for picnics and other outdoor get-togethers.
They’re light, sweet, and easy to make. With just a few ingredients, you can have this delicious easy dessert ready in no time.

Here’s what you need to get started:
- Store-bought angel food cake
- Fresh strawberries
- Fat-free Reddi Wip
- Kabob skewers
Using a store-bought cake helped to make this an easy dessert. If you prefer you can make your own cake. Make sure you allow enough time for the cake to cool completely.
I used a food scale to make sure the points of the cake were accurate.

2 ounces of the angel food cake was 8 points. It was enough to make 6 kabobs.
Strawberries are the star of this light dessert, so it’s important to prepare them properly. Start by washing and hulling your strawberries.
If you’re not familiar with hulling, it’s simply removing the stem and green leaves at the top of the berry.
To do this, simply insert a paring knife at a slight angle just under the leaves and rotate the strawberry around the knife until the leaves pop off.
You want to pick strawberries similar in size so they look good together on the kabob.
Assembling the kabobs:
Start by cutting the prepared cake into bite-sized cubes, about 1 inch in size.
I used 3 strawberries for each kabob. I cut the tip off of the middle strawberry, but that’s optional.
Take a skewer and add a strawberry to it, then thread a piece of cake onto it.
At this point I added a little bit of whipped cream, the middle strawberry, another dab of whipped cream, then another piece of cake, and strawberry.
Repeat the process for the rest of the skewers.
Once the kabobs are assembled, place them on a platter to serve.
If you are serving them at a later time, I would wait to add the whipped cream once it’s time to serve them.
Assembling the kabobs is a simple process, but it’s important to be gentle with the ingredients so the cake or strawberries don’t break.
