This meat sauce is easy to make and the perfect addition to your favorite pasta!
Bolognese sauce is similar to a traditional meat sauce but it also has carrots, celery, and cream.

How I kept this Bolognese Sauce light:
Instead of using olive oil or butter to sauté the vegetables, I let the beef cook until it was slightly browned, then added them in.
Most Bolognese recipes also use ground pork, but I only used 96% lean ground beef since the pork is so high in points.
If you want to add the ground pork I would do 1/2 lb. of lean ground beef and 1/2 lb. of ground pork.
Instead of using whole milk or heavy cream, I used fat-free half and half.
I used Brami pasta which is a healthier alternative to regular pasta. It’s higher in protein and fiber, but lower in net carbs.
Brami also makes a delicious bean dip that is similar in texture to hummus, and pickled lupini beans that are great for a snack on the go.

How to make Bolognese Sauce:
The first thing I did was finely chopped the carrot, celery, garlic, and onion.
Next, I added the ground beef to a large pot and broke it up into small pieces.
Once the ground beef was slightly browned, I added the vegetables.
When the ground beef was fully cooked, I drained any extra grease.
Pour in the crushed tomatoes and dry white wine.
Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
Bring to a light simmer, cover with a lid, and cook over low heat for 30 minutes.
If the sauce gets too thick, add some chicken broth. I just did a little at a time, using about 1/2 cup total.
At the end of the cooking time, stir in the fat-free half and half. Serve over your favorite pasta!
