Asian Drumsticks (Ten Dollar Meal)
This is another Ten Dollar Meal! Not only does the $10 include the chicken legs but it also includes the rice, snow peas, and a lime.
Kroger had buy one get one free packs of chicken thighs and drumsticks on sale this week. I bought one package of each and it only cost $5.
If you’re not a fan of chicken legs you could swap them out for chicken thighs. I used bone in, skin on.

The Ingredients
Chicken Drumsticks: My pack of drumsticks was $4.72. I love dark meat even though it has points. It’s much more tender and juicy than chicken breasts.
Snow Peas: Since I was marinating the drumsticks with an Asian sauce I wanted a vegetable typically found in Asian dishes.
They also have a good amount of vitamin C, vitamin K, and fiber.
I bought an 8 ounce bag for $2.99.
Rice: I bought a bag of brown rice for only $.99. It was perfect for an inexpensive side dish.
Lime: I bought a lime for $.59 and used the lime juice for the marinade.
The total spent for this recipe was only $9.29.
I also used some “pantry staples” for the marinade. That includes soy sauce, garlic, rice wine vinegar, and ground ginger.
If you don’t have rice wine vinegar you can substitute it with apple cider vinegar or white wine vinegar.

The snow peas are 0 points and the brown rice varies based on the amount you serve. I had 1/3 cup of brown rice for 3 points.
My meal was a total of 7 points. That’s for one chicken drumstick, snow peas, and 1/3 cup of brown rice.
How to Make Asian Drumsticks
The drumsticks can be cooked in the air fryer or oven. I’ll include instructions for both.
I prefer using the air fryer since it takes half the time and the skin comes out nice and crispy.
Add the soy sauce, water, lime juice, rice wine vinegar, minced garlic, and ginger to a large zip up bag.
Place the drumsticks in the bag and zip it up. Massage the outside of the bag to make sure the marinade covers all of the chicken.
Put the chicken in the fridge for at least 2 hours.
To cook the chicken in the air fryer add it to the basket and cook at 400 degrees F for 18-20 minutes. You want to flip the chicken halfway through.
If you want to cook the chicken in the oven set the temperature to 425 degrees F. Place the chicken on a baking sheet and cook for 40-45 minutes turning halfway through.
The chicken is cooked when the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F. I use a digital thermometer to make sure my chicken is fully cooked.
Serving Suggestions
I served my chicken thighs with snow peas and brown rice but the possibilities are endless.
Any fresh vegetable would go well with these drumsticks. Green beans, broccoli, corn, or potatoes.
You could also serve it with white rice or cauliflower rice instead of brown rice.
