If you have $10, you have enough money to feed a family of four and keep it WW friendly!
Not only is this recipe budget friendly, but it’s also easy to make.
It’s a perfect recipe for those busy weeknights. It’s also great for meal prep!
The Ingredients
I did my shopping at Kroger and this is what I bought:
- Boneless, skinless chicken breast – $5 for 1.25 lbs.
- Teriyaki sauce – $1.99
- Rice – $1.79
- Broccoli – $1.25
The total was $10.03, and that’s enough food to feed four people.
You only use a fraction of the teriyaki sauce and rice, so the next time you make it you’ll only need to buy chicken and broccoli.

How to Make Chicken Teriyaki Bowls
Since the rice takes the longest to make, you want to make that first. Cook according to the directions on the package, or use a rice maker.
I kept the broccoli simple and just steamed it.
Cut the chicken into bite-size pieces and season with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Cook the chicken breast in a nonstick pan over medium heat. Once the chicken is cooked all the way through add in the teriyaki sauce.
Add some water to the cornstarch and mix together. Pour the mixture into the pan with chicken and stir until it thickens, it should only take a minute.
To serve, simply divide all of the ingredients evenly into four bowls.

Serving Suggestions
This is a great dish to clean out the fridge – add some bell peppers or carrots for some extra vegetables.
Top the Chicken Teriyaki Bowls with green onions or toasted sesame seeds.
Substitute the chicken with shrimp or salmon.
Make it extra healthy by using brown rice instead of white rice.
You can also reduce the points by adjusting the amount of rice you use.
