Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken Sandwiches (Ten Dollar Meal)
This is a super easy meal, and it only costs $9.49 to make!
It’s Weight Watchers friendly and only 5 points per sandwich.

You could make it even lower in points if you bought low point buns, but it will cost a little more than the $10 budget.

The Ingredients
Chicken breast: I used chicken breast as the protein since it is 0 points. I shop at Kroger and they have a 1.25 lb. pack for only $5.
Hamburger buns: I bought regular hamburger buns for $1.99. I only used 4 of the hamburger buns so I froze the other four for another day.
Since I used regular hamburger buns they were 4 points each.
BBQ Sauce: I bought Ray’s no sugar added BBQ sauce because it was on sale for $2.50 I used one cup of it which was 3 points.
Some of the “pantry staples” I used were garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
The total spent for this recipe was $9.49.
If you’re not feeding a family of four you can save the chicken in an airtight container in the fridge. It’s perfect for meal prep!
You can also use the leftover chicken to make these BBQ Chicken Tostadas.

How to Make Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken Sandwiches
I added the chicken breast to a slow cooker and seasoned it with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
Measure 1 cup of the BBQ sauce and pour it over the chicken breast.
Place the lid on the crock pot and cook on low for 6 hours.
When the chicken is done cooking use two forks to shred the chicken. The chicken will be very tender and pull apart easily.
Add 1/4 of the chicken mixture to each hamburger bun. You can eat it as is or add some of your favorite toppings.
Topping Suggestions
A low point cole slaw is always a delicious topping for BBQ chicken sandwiches. You can serve it on the side if you don’t like it on your sandwich.
Onions or pickled onions can help add more flavor to the sandwich. I prefer red onion with BBQ chicken sandwiches.
Sargento ultra thin cheddar cheese slices make for a great topping. One slice will add 2 points to the sandwich.
