If you are on Pinterest you have most likely seen or tried the Million Dollar Spaghetti.
There’s quite a few recipes for it, most of which include a lot of the same ingredients. Spaghetti noodles, meat sauce and lots of cheese.
One of my friends made the regular version and it was delicious, but I knew it was very high in points.

So I decided to lighten it up!
I started with the meat sauce. Instead of using ground beef or Italian sausage I used turkey sausage. I used 10 oz. of the Jennie-O turkey breakfast sausage.
Instead of buying spaghetti sauce I made my own. I used crushed tomatoes which is 0 points and added my own seasonings to it.
There is a cream cheese layer that is in the middle of this casserole. To lighten it up I used reduced fat cream cheese and fat free sour cream.
I’ll walk you through step by step how I put it all together.
I started by mixing together the cream cheese, sour cream, some mozzarella cheese and garlic powder.

You can set that aside and start boiling the spaghetti noodles. I cooked the noodles 1 minute less than the box calls for since it will be baking in the oven.

While the noodles were boiling I started browning the sausage with some chopped onion.

Once the sausage is cooked all the way through you can add the crushed tomatoes and seasonings.

Next you want to add the spaghetti noodles to the sauce.

Then it’s time to start layering the Million Dollar Spaghetti. Make sure you spray a 9×13 dish with cooking spray. Then add half of the spaghetti and sauce to the dish.

Now it’s time to add the cream cheese mixture. You want to spread it out in an even layer over the spaghetti.

After the cream cheese layer you’ll add the rest of the spaghetti and sauce.

The final step is to top it with mozzarella cheese and put it in the oven for 30 minutes.

This makes 12 large and filling servings for 9 points with blue, green and purple.

This was delicious!! The only thing I changed was I used ground beef instead of turkey sausage because that’s what I had in the fridge. I’ll definitely make again!!
Yay!! I’ve made it with ground beef too 🙂
