This is a great way to take your oatmeal to the next level!
Adding this blueberry pie filling to the oatmeal is so good. The good news is that it is still low in points.
The only Freestyle points in this recipe come from the oatmeal. The blueberries, sugar free maple syrup and cornstarch are all 0 points.
The sugar free maple syrup and cornstarch can add points to a recipe, but because of the amount I used they are both 0 points.
The blueberry pie filling actually makes enough for two servings. You can save one serving for another day, or you can share it if you want. You might want to keep it all for yourself though. 🙂
If I save the blueberry pie filling I put it in a sealed container in the fridge. Then I pop it into the microwave for 20-30 seconds. It tastes just as good as when it’s fresh.
Growing up I never had oatmeal, we always had cream of wheat. I loved cream of wheat! The first time I tried oatmeal I didn’t really like it. The texture was so different compared to the cream of wheat.
Then I tried maple and brown sugar oatmeal and I liked it. I also like that oatmeal is quite filling.
I don’t eat the maple and brown sugar oatmeal now, there’s just too much sugar in it for me. But I do like experimenting with oatmeal. It’s also a great ingredient to add to desserts. I recently posted a Strawberry Crisp that I made using oatmeal. It’s a really good dessert and only 2 Freestyle points per serving.
The only other thing I added to my Blueberry Pie Oatmeal was some fat-free Reddi Wip. That didn’t add any additional points, but it gave it a great flavor.
