One bite of this easy Cream Cheese Danish and you’re not going to want to put it down!
It’s also great because it’s an easy recipe.
I used puff pastry sheets that were thawed in the fridge overnight.

You’ll want to use a paring knife to lightly score a border around the edge, about 1/2 inch around.
Next use a fork to poke holes into the center of each pastry. This will keep the center of the pastry low while letting the outside puff up.
The cream cheese mixture is just reduced-fat cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract and lemon juice.
Once the cream cheese is mixed together I added it to the center of the pastry.
Now for the fun part, the topping! I used sugar free blackberry jam. You can use any flavor you want, I have also made these with sugar free raspberry jam. Those were delicious too!
If you don’t want to use jam you could also use fruit. Blueberries work great for this recipe.
The final step is to brush egg wash along the outside of the pastry, then pop them in the oven.
I decided not to do a glaze for the Cream Cheese Danishes. You typically need 1 cup of powdered sugar to make a glaze which is 29 points.
Instead I dusted them with powdered sugar which was only 2 points.
These are perfect for breakfast when you’re looking for something different. 🙂

- 1 puff pastry sheet (completely thawed)
- 3 oz. reduced fat cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- a couple drops of lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons sugar-free blackberry jam
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
- 1 egg plus 1 tablespoon water
-
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
-
Flatten out the puff pastry sheet and cut it into 9 pieces. Use a paring knife to score the border of each piece, about 1/2 inch away from the edge. Use a fork to poke holes in the center of each pastry.
-
Add the cream cheese, vanilla extract, lemon juice and sugar to a bowl. Use a hand held mixer to combine.
-
Spread the cream cheese mixture into the center of each pastry.
-
Add approximately 1 teaspoon of jam to the top of the cream cheese. You don't have to spread it out because it will melt while baking.
-
Whisk together the egg and water. Brush the egg wash onto the exposed part of the pastry.
-
Bake 13-15 minutes, until the edges of the Danishes are golden. Take out of the oven and place on a cooling rack.
-
Once they are cooled use a sifter to sprinkle on the powdered sugar.
