These meatball subs are the stuff dreams are made of!
Not only are they delicious and filling but they are only 7 points per sub for blue, green and purple.

There are a few things I did to keep these meatball subs low in points.
The first thing was I used a hot dog bun instead of a sub bun. The one I used was 3 points, it was the Kroger brand white hot dog bun.
You definitely want to doublecheck the points of your bun. Some regular hot dog buns are 4-5 points.
Another idea is to use a wheat hot dog bun which can be as low as 2 points.
The meatballs I used are from my baked Italian meatball recipe. They are only 1 point per meatball – that’s for blue, green and purple.
I did a simple pasta sauce that was 0 points.
Finally we get to the cheese. I used Sargento mozzarella slices which are 2 points per slice. Since I used hot dog buns I only needed a half slice which was one point.
If you eat this meatball sub and you’re not full I would be shocked!

One meatball sub is 7 points for blue, green and purple

- Baked Italian meatballs (the recipe makes 24 meatballs)
- Sargento mozzarella cheese slices, cut in half
- hot dog buns (I used ones that were 3 points each)
- 30 oz. Tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried minced onion
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 teaspoon basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
-
Add the tomato sauce and seasonings to a pan. Bring to a light simmer, then cover with a lid. Let simmer for 15 minutes.
-
Add the meatballs to the tomato sauce.
-
Open the hot dog buns and place on a baking sheet. Add three meatballs to one side of the hot dog bun.
-
Add a half slice of cheese to the other side of the hot dog bun.
-
Put under the broiler until the cheese is melted.
