The Ingredients
Chicken Breast: Chicken breast is one of the leanest sources of protein, making it an excellent choice for healthy meals. It’s naturally low in fat while providing plenty of protein to help build and maintain muscle and keep you feeling satisfied.
Seasonings: I used garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to season the chicken breast. It’s a great way to add flavor without extra calories or fat.
Light Butter: Using just a teaspoon of light butter provides a touch of richness to the sauce without adding a lot of saturated fat or calories.
Fresh Garlic: Fresh garlic is the star of the cream sauce. It creates incredible flavor while providing antioxidants and naturally occurring compounds that have been associated with heart health.
Fat-Free Half and Half: This creates a creamy texture while dramatically reducing the fat and calories compared to traditional heavy cream, making this dish lighter without sacrificing flavor.
Reduced-Fat Cream Cheese: Reduced-fat cream cheese thickens the sauce and makes it rich and velvety while keeping the recipe lighter than using full-fat cream cheese.
Grated Parmesan Cheese: Parmesan has a bold, nutty flavor, so a small amount goes a long way. It adds richness, protein, and calcium while keeping the sauce flavorful.
Dijon Mustard: Dijon mustard adds depth and a subtle tanginess that balances the creamy sauce. It’s low in calories but adds a surprising amount of flavor.
Fresh Parsley: Fresh parsley adds a pop of color and freshness while providing vitamins A, C, and K.
