Dollar Store Items You’ll Need

Let’s start with the obvious – hot chocolate. I bought one box with marshmallows and one without.

I also bought a couple of holiday themed coffee mugs. Those were $1.50 each, so I only bought two. I have plenty more coffee mugs already.

These are the extras I bought (most can be found at any dollar store during the holiday season):

  • Mini candy canes
  • Chocolate spoons
  • Peppermint spoons
  • Marshmallows
  • Shortbread cookies
  • Junior mints
  • Milk chocolate and white chocolate pretzels
  • Holiday themed cupcake liners

How to Build the Board

Use any cutting board, serving platter, or holiday-themed tray. Dollar stores often carry seasonal serving boards you can use.

I added the two coffee mugs to the tray and placed the hot chocolate packets in between them.

Pour mini marshmallows into a small bowl or scatter them in a pile to add softness and texture. I put the marshmallows in a small ramekin that I had on hand.

Place the chocolate spoons and peppermint spoons together or mix them throughout the board. These instantly make hot chocolate feel gourmet!

Next, add the mini candy canes. Lay them in a small cluster or stack them in a mug. They add a festive pop of red and white.

Use caramel candies, shortbread cookies, and Junior Mints to fill any open spaces.

I added some of the candy to the cupcake liners and spaced them throughout the board.

You can also add garnishes like whipped cream or cinnamon (also available at many dollar stores).

This Dollar Store hot chocolate charcuterie board proves that you don’t need a big budget to create something beautiful and festive.

It’s fun, customizable, and guaranteed to impress your guests. Whether you’re hosting a holiday gathering or enjoying a simple family night at home, this board brings warmth, creativity, and a whole lot of chocolatey cheer!
