Ingredients
  • 4 slices Sara Lee 45 calorie bread
  • 1 apple
  • 1 teaspoon light butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup plain, unsweetened almond milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Peel and slice the apple. Melt the butter in a saucepan then add the apple slices and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Cook for 2 minutes.

  2. In a small bowl stir together the cornstarch and water, then add it to the apples. Cook 3 more minutes.

  3. Preheat a nonstick frying pan on medium heat.

  4. In a shallow dish add the eggs, almond milk, vanilla extract and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon. Whisk together.

  5. Spray the frying pan with nonstick cooking spray. Place both sides of a slice of bread into the milk mixture then add to the pan. Cook 2-3 minutes on each side, until the bread is golden brown.

  6. Top two slices of French toast with half of the apple mixture, then repeat with the remaining ingredients. Add any other toppings of your choice.
