My latest obsession is making my own pizza using pre-made thin crust pizza. It’s so easy to whip up a quick dinner plus it’s lower in points since it’s thin crust.

I have been growing basil and the plant is huge right now. I needed to use up some of the basil so I decided to go with a Margherita Pizza.

I love using fresh mozzarella for this pizza. I always buy the fresh mozzarella cheese balls. My kids love them for a snack.

The cheese balls are only 1 point each and I cut each cheese ball into 4-5 slices.

I made a quick and easy sauce to go onto the pizza. I put some extra virgin olive oil in a pan and sauted fresh garlic. Then I added tomato sauce, oregano salt and pepper and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

Wewalka Bistro thin crust pizza dough is the brand I used. It’s only 16 points for the entire pizza!

Any type of thin crust pizza will work, just make sure you double-check the points.

You can use as much basil and tomato as you would like since they are both 0 points.

Yield: 6 servings (4 points per serving for blue, green and purple)

Course: Main Course
Ingredients
  • 1 pre-made thin crust pizza dough (I used Wewalka Bistro thin crust pizza dough)
  • 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 fresh mozzarella cheese balls (I used Murray's)
  • Fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 roma tomato, sliced
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven according to the directions of the pre-made pizza dough.

  2. In a small saucepan heat the olive oil and add the garlic. Saute for 30 seconds then add the tomato sauce, oregano and a pinch of salt and pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes.

  3. Cut each mozzarella ball into 4-5 slices.

  4. Spoon the tomato sauce over the pizza (I only used about 1/4 cup). Add the basil, tomato and cheese. Bake the pizza according to the directions on the pre-made pizza dough. For Wewalka Bistro I cooked it 14 minutes, once the crust was golden.
